Our youngest learners need to feel safe and supported so they can learn with their whole body and all their senses. The Toddlers Programme at Discovery Early Years focuses on developing supportive, trusting relationships and creating rich environments that encourage very young children to explore and discover the world around them.
Our teachers are qualified early childhood professionals who have been trained extensively to guide families and help children bond with each other through fun, imaginative, colourful and exciting activities such as age appropriate storytelling, songs, music and creative play in an engaging manner and in a safe and hygienic environment.
Teachers help toddlers engage in experiences designed to support their holistic development. We value and respect parents as their child’s first teachers and encourage teachers to partner with parents in learning everything they can about their infants and toddlers to personalise their needs and plan for their development. As a result, our programme creates a strong three-way bond between child, parent, and teacher.
Active Learning is the foundation where young children gain knowledge through their natural play and interaction with the environment, events, and other people. It is inspired by Reggio Emilia and Maria Montessori.
A consistent flexible routine accommodates individual children’s natural rhythm and temperament, and gives toddlers a sense of security and stability. Each routine is built around daily events and caregiving routines: such as the use of bathrooms, proper handwashing routines, independent eating, playing and putting away equipment.
The physical space in class is safe, flexible, and child-oriented to provide comfort and accommodate the changing developmental needs and interests of the learners. The space is organized into self-play areas, stocked with a variety of sensory-motor materials that toddlers can reach, explore, and play with, in their way at their own pace, exercise creativity, and solve problems.
