DISCOVERY CENTRE IB MISSION STATEMENT

The Diploma curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. Made up of the three required components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.

The IB DP is different from other curricula because it:

  • Encourages students to think critically and challenge assumptions
  • Incorporates quality practice from research and our global community of schools
  • Encourages students to consider both local and global contexts
  • Develops multilingual students

The IBDP provides a continuum of education that is united by the IB’s philosophy and approaches to learning and teaching. The programme encourages both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development. IB DP incorporates quality practice from national and international research and the IB global community. It encourages students to be international-minded, within a complex and hyper-connected world. Through IB, students learn how to learn. This programme helps students to:

  • Ask challenging questions
  • Think critically
  • develop research skills proven to help them in higher education

IB DP also encourages students to be active in their communities and to take their learning beyond academic studies.
